About the YECAP Nepal Shakers Fellowship
The YECAP Nepal Shakers Fellowship is part of UNDP’s Climate Promise project, designed to empower youth-led Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to lead impactful climate action across Nepal. This initiative strengthens youth leadership, promotes inclusive and gender-responsive climate solutions, fosters multi-stakeholder collaboration, and supports youth-led project development through structured training, mentorship, and partnership-building.
The fellowship prioritizes inclusivity ensuring at least 50% women representation and active engagement of indigenous youth, youth with disabilities, and other marginalized groups. It aims to equip young climate advocates with the tools, networks, and confidence to design and implement transformative climate initiatives that contribute to Nepal’s NDC 3.0 targets.
Overall Job Description
The Programme Coordinator will be responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and quality assurance of fellowship activities. This includes managing the fellows’ selection process, organizing capacity-building trainings, facilitating mentorship programmes, guiding proposal development, and ensuring meaningful stakeholder engagement. The role requires a high degree of collaboration with UNDP Nepal, development partners, government agencies, youth networks, and technical experts to ensure timely delivery of programme outputs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Social Work, or a related discipline.
- Over five years of proven expertise in a relevant field, with a strong track record of results.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with development partners, government agencies, and youth networks.
- Extensive experience in coordinating trainings, leading communications, and managing stakeholder engagement.
- Deep background in youth engagement, particularly in supporting youth-led initiatives focused on environmental resilience and climate action.
- Skilled in preparing high-quality reports and documentation.

- Strong understanding of GEDSI principles and mainstreaming approaches.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and Nepali.

Key Responsibilities
Program Planning and Implementation
Lead the overall planning, coordination, and execution of the Nepal Shakers Fellowship programme
Develop and maintain a detailed implementation plan, ensuring alignment with UNDP priorities and programme objectives
Coordinate the fellows’ selection process, ensuring inclusivity and diversity
Training and Mentorship Coordination
Supervise the design, delivery, and quality of the 5-day capacity-building training for fellows
Coordinate with trainers, mentors, and experts to ensure relevance, quality, and integration of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles
Oversee mentorship pairings and provide ongoing support to ensure fellows’ project development is on track
Stakeholder Engagements
Serve as the primary point of contact with UNDP, maintaining regular communication and alignment with project goals
Build and maintain relationships with development partners, government agencies, youth networks, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and resource sharing
Organize a partnership-building and knowledge-sharing event to showcase fellowship outcomes and create future opportunities
Monitoring, Quality Assurance, and Reporting
Ensure all activities meet the programme’s quality standards and are implemented on schedule
Monitor fellows’ progress, providing guidance and troubleshooting support as needed
Prepare and submit high-quality inception, progress, and final reports, documenting deliverables, outcomes, lessons learned, and success stories
Project Deliverables and Accountability
Ensure timely completion of all deliverables, including fellows’ project proposals, training materials, and event outputs
Maintain accurate records of programme activities, participants, and resource persons
Support programme visibility through knowledge products, communications, and documentation of innovative practices
