Job Description
The role emphasizes mural development, public-facing visual design, and community-oriented storytelling through art. The consultant will ensure that all design products are inclusive, user-centered, and aligned with the local context and communication goals.
Qualifications
Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree with minimum 3 years of professional experience in people-centric or community-based design
- Proven experience with mural or public art projects, especially in rural or low-resource settings
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with user-centered design methodologies and agile collaboration.
- Strong visual storytelling skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for social innovation, community empowerment, and inclusive communication.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design Development: Develop people-centric visual designs and artwork, with a strong focus on mural art for community spaces; Translate complex ideas into accessible visual formats for public understanding.
Collaboration: Work closely with YI-Lab’s project and communication teams to co-create mural concepts and visual tools; Coordinate with mural artists, community stakeholders, and local governments during implementation.
Prototyping and Iteration: Prepare prototypes of mural and design concepts for feedback and validation.
Learning and Innovation: Stay informed on design trends, public communication techniques, and community art practices; Contribute creative ideas for impactful communication at the intersection of art, data, and local narratives.
