Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab) is a not-for-profit civic tech company that works at the intersection of emerging cutting-edge technological tools and their applications by equipping young professionals to solve emerging challenges in our community. Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
· Minimum 3 years of experience in frontend application development
· Strong experience with React, Angular, Vue.js and similar modern frontend frameworks
· Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript
· Experience developing responsive, accessible and user-friendly web applications
· Knowledge of state management, routing, form handling and frontend architecture
· Experience integrating REST APIs, AI services, maps, dashboards and third-party platforms
· Knowledge of data visualization, interactive reports, search, filtering and real-time interfaces
· Understanding of browser compatibility, accessibility standards and frontend security
· Experience with automated testing, debugging, performance optimization and code review
· Strong knowledge of Git, GitLab/Github, CI/CD, Docker and frontend deployment
· Experience working with UI/UX designs, prototypes and design systems
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· Willing to learn new frameworks and technologies when needed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Design and develop responsive, accessible and user-friendly web applications
· Convert approved UI/UX designs and prototypes into functional frontend components
· Develop reusable, maintainable and well-structured components
· Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs, AI services, maps, dashboards, AR modules and external platforms
· Develop data visualizations, dashboards, forms, reports, filtering and search functions
· Implement state management, real-time updates and complex user workflows
· Ensure compatibility across major browsers, devices and screen sizes
· Optimize loading speed, rendering performance and overall user experience
· Apply accessibility standards, frontend security and input validation
· Conduct unit testing, debugging, code reviews and usability testing
· Collaborate with UI/UX Designers to improve navigation, layout and user interaction
· Prepare documentation for components, workflows, configuration and deployment
· Coordinate with Backend, AI, DevOps, GIS and Quality Assurance teams
· Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Mid-level Frontend Developers
