Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab) is a not-for-profit civic tech company that works at the intersection of emerging cutting-edge technological tools and their applications by equipping young professionals to solve emerging challenges in our community. Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a experience on related field.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in software quality assurance or software testing.
- Good understanding of software development and testing life cycles.
- Experience in manual testing of web and mobile applications.
- Knowledge of functional, regression, integration, usability, and performance testing.
- Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or Swagger.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and database validation.
- Familiarity with automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, or similar tools is preferred.
- Understanding of Agile or Scrum-based software development.
- Ability to prepare clear test cases, bug reports, and testing documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple testing activities and meet release deadlines.
- Basic understanding of Git, CI/CD pipelines, security testing, and performance testing is an advantage
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and testing checklists based on system requirements.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, usability, compatibility, and performance testing.
- Test web applications, mobile applications, APIs, dashboards, and other software products.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track bugs using issue-tracking tools.
- Work closely with developers, designers, and project managers to resolve defects.
- Verify bug fixes and conduct regression testing before software releases.
- Review software requirements and provide feedback on testability and potential risks.
- Validate API responses, database records, user interfaces, and system workflows.
- Conduct testing across different browsers, devices, operating systems, and screen sizes.
- Support automated testing by developing and maintaining appropriate test scripts.
- Participate in sprint planning, requirement reviews, daily meetings, and release activities.
- Ensure that software meets functional requirements, security expectations, and defined quality standards.
- Assist with user acceptance testing and collect feedback from users and stakeholders.
- Continuously improve testing processes, tools, and overall software quality practices.
