About the project

Protecting Online Rights of Changemakers (PORCH) is an initiative spearheaded by Internews, targeting the South Asian countries of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The project aims to address the significant digital challenges and opportunities faced by youth and women in these regions, focusing on enhancing their inclusion and participation in critical policy debates around internet governance. PORCH seeks to increase awareness and understanding of digital rights among youth and women, strengthen the advocacy capacity of youth and women-led organizations, and enhance digital safety and security.  


The project seeks to build their capacity to advocate for inclusive, rights-respecting digital policies, ensuring their voices are heard in developing internet governance frameworks. The overarching goal of PORCH is to increase the inclusion and participation of youth and women in key policy debates on Internet governance, focusing on issues such as content regulation, privacy, access, and freedom of expression.  

Job Description 

The Project Associate for the Protecting Online Rights of Changemakers (PORCH) project will oversee the implementation and management of initiatives aimed at enhancing digital rights awareness and advocacy among youth and women in South Asia. This role involves supporting the development of an e-learning course on Digital Human Rights tailored for youth and women, coordinating the delivery of Training of Trainers (TOT) courses with a focus on researching and developing training resources. The Associate will also ensure close coordination with content developers and technology teams to optimize the e-learning platform. Compliance with YI-Lab's organizational policies and funding requirements, along with preparing narrative and financial reports, and managing data for project analysis, are integral to this position. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, project management experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, contributing to impactful research-based advocacy efforts.


Education and experience

  • 1.  Bachelor's degree in law or a related field;
  •           2.    Demonstrated interest and relevant work experience in Digital Rights;

               3.    Excellent communication and reporting skills;

    4. Proficiency in using project management and e-learning tools;
  • 5. Experience in project management, particularly in civic tech or digital rights projects;
    6. Strong organizational and coordination skills;
           7. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Skills and competencies

  • 1.    Proven skills in designing, planning, and implementing projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.

    2.    Ability to develop and maintain coordination and contacts with partners, stakeholders, and the donor organization.

    3.    Proficiency in e-learning platforms, project management tools, and digital collaboration tools.

    4.    Experience in organizing and coordinating training programs, particularly Training of Trainers (TOT) courses.

    5.    Ability to work closely with content developers and technology teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of project components.

    6.    Understanding of organizational policies, procedures, regulations, and funding requirements to ensure project compliance.

    7.    Strong skills in designing and implementing monitoring plans, conducting regular project activity monitoring, and facilitating evaluations.

    8.    Excellent skills in documentation, narrative, and financial report preparation.

    9.    Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey project goals and progress effectively.

    10.   Effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

    11.    Strong attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and track project progress.

    12.    Ability to work independently and cooperatively with team members.

    13.    Fluency in written and spoken English, with proficiency in regional languages being an advantage.

Roles and Responsibilities

1.    Project Implementation and Management:

·       E-Learning Course Development: Support the development of an e-learning course on Digital Human Rights, tailored for youth and women.

·       Training Coordination: Coordinate the delivery of Digital Human Rights Training of Trainers (TOT) courses, ensuring effective implementation and adherence to project timelines. This includes research and development of training resources for TOT.

·       Content and Technology Coordination: Maintain close coordination with content developers and the technology development team, suggesting necessary changes for the e-learning platform.

2.    Compliance:

·       Organizational Policy Adherence: Ensure adherence to YI-Lab's organizational policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines.

·       Funding Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with the funding organization's requirements and support in formulating necessary rules, regulations, and guidelines.

3.    Reporting:

·       Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and submit interim and final narrative and financial reports. Provide necessary documents, information, and reports related to the project to the funding organization.

·       Data Management and Analysis: Coordinate with content developers and the technology team to maintain a database for project progress and performance analysis. Collect and compile learning, good practices, and case studies from the field.
