Salary: Rs. 30,000 - 40,000 (Negotiable)  

Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab) is a not-for-profit civic tech company that works at the intersection of emerging  cutting-edge  technological tools and their applications by equipping young professionals to solve emerging challenges in our community. YI-Lab’s mission statement is, ‘to engage young people to bridge science to people and policy through innovation ’.  YI-Lab harnesses indigenous knowledge, citizen science approach, develops low-cost technological solutions, promotes open data, promotes entrepreneurship, and conducts evidence-based advocacy campaigns. YI-Lab  provides  a conducive environment for young people to co-create solutions for inclusive development.  

About the project

Using Climate Change Scenarios to Inform Community-based Adaptations and Planning in Nepal (CCSICAPN) project is funded by Frontier Technology and aims to develop ways to inform and capacitate local government to make use of existing data, policies, and technology to enable local government to implement DRRM and CCA related plans and interventions through data-driven decision making. CCSICAPN is an eighteen-month-long project that is being implemented in Bhotekoshi rural and Rajapur municipalities.

Qualifications

  1. Young graduates from a university with an academic background in environmental science, geomatics, geography, social science, communication, development studies, or a relevant field; 

  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali; 

  3. Prior experience in social media handling and knowledge of design tools such as Canva; 

  4. Attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines, track progress, and work independently and cooperatively with team members; 

  5. Ability to think out of the box and curious, 

  6. Integrity and service-oriented. 

Major roles and responsibilities  


  1. Support the CCSICAPN project officers (POs) at  Rajapur Municipality and Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality in project activity research, planning, coordination and execution;

  2.  Assist in  project outreach, project design and project activities;

  3. Document progress of the project in-built project management system;

  4. Provide input regarding project activities, resources required, logistics and coordinate to best utilize shared resources;

  5. Organize and participate in meeting relating to project implementation, communication and outreach;

  6. Mentor interns, review communication content and reach desired statistics of Youth Innovation Lab’s social media pages;

  7. Assist the creative team in all tasks such as graphic designing, video-editing, event prop design, t-shirts design, print designs etc.;

  8. Proactive with good time management skills, creative and with an ability to communicate in a professional manner with consultants, team members and members from partner organizations; 

  9. Provide inputs and support on storytelling through data visualization;

  10. Assist in social media posts, reports, icons, objects, infographics and other visual materials; 

  11. Assist in developing, refine and/or update communication and project related training materials;   

  12. Assist in the management and administrations of related projects; and, 

  13. Any and all tasks assigned by team lead.

Get Involved

The CCSICAPN project achieved success through its pilot phase, demonstrating evidences to promote good governance, enhance technical capacity through data-driven decision-making using the Bipad Portal (https://bipadportal.gov.np/), and raising awareness about flood risks in the community. YI-Lab also received the "Knowledge into Use Awards" from the Global Resilience Partnership for its innovative communication of flood risk through a scientifically approached community mural. The awards celebrate creativity, embrace innovation, and showcase the latest resilience evidence.
